I made a meaningful contribution to my mentor and class by helping sort out kids homework. classwork, help them with their high frequency words, how to spell words, and read a story to the kids for my project. It's honestly sad to leave the kids for the summer, but I'll visit again once their 1st graders. For me helping m students everyday was an honor to help them learn new words, spell them correctly, and get them to become more confident with them self instead of depending on me or Mrs. Espinoza (their teacher). It meant a lot to me that I helped the kids learn things that I learned a long time ago. It was nice that my kids listened and respected me. When I first came to the class, there was a student named Vaylee and she was a very unique student, meaning she is smart but not very confident in herself. She knew how to spell the words but was always hesitant on how she could spell the word. By the 2nd and 3rd week she was becoming more confident in herself and I felt happy that I helped her develop that skill.

This week has been really intense. On Monday us interns had to help out the 1-3 graders with field day, field day is where the kids are active through activities such as kick ball, obstetrical courses, sac races, etc. It was very fun playing with little kids because it's such a different experience from us teenagers to the young ones, especially when explaining the rules to them. The next day on Tuesday it was field day again but for the 4th and 5th grades. It was very very interesting because when the first group of kids came to my game which was Frisbee toss, the teacher came up to me and said that there was one troubled student. So in my head I was thinking bad as in a non cooperative kid but I was wrong... as I was explaining the rules a hear a yell that said " F*CK YOU in the @$$ bro (bro = teacher) that kid said every single bad word a 4th grader shouldn't know.
Now enough of the intense talk, now it's time for another big event that happened to me. I have a student named Amaya and she told me something that almost got me into tears. Her parents are split up and she only gets to see her dad ever other 2 days and mom the rest of the week. She told me that I am like a big brother that she never had because in class when I help her practice her high frequency words she really is learning her words better. At recess I play with her and she says that I make her day. In the mornings I give all my students hugs and they all tell me that I am like their big brother, it really makes my mornings. Qualities that I see in my mentor and and all the kindergarten teachers are extreme patience. I want to develop extreme patience because teaching little kids is harder than it looks. They have so much energy and they won't stop asking questions or lower their hands until they get called on. A great characteristic feature that my mentor has is her personality. Whenever her students are not cooperating or just being crazy she always knows how to handle the situation. If it was me I would've not known what to do.
What strikes me about my work place is how well everybody is very cooperative with one another. First day with the kindergartners was very fun. They call me Mr.Alex and they love to play basketball and soccer with me. In class, the first pod is very polite and respectful to the teacher and to myself. The second pod is the opposite, they are very energetic and don't really like to focus in class, only when they have been reminded 3 times. They are really good kids. It strikes me that kindergartners are good kids because I thought that they would be squirmy and not pay attention a lot in class, but i was wrong. It also strikes me that teaching and helping little kids is better than teaching teens. It was easy for half of the kids to get used to me for the first 2 days I was there, and the rest of the kids took the 2nd week to get used to me. Before I started internship I thought to myself that it would be very hard job for me to keep the kids calm and quit, I was wrong they are amazing kids. Fun to be around and an interesting set of kids I've been around that aren't friends or family relatives.
